FOR THE BEST OF PERSONAL MEMOIRS
Gypsy holds titles and awards to have been successful in many ways. But on this site, he is a book author. He was a poet at age ten and although he was a prolific writer even then, he never let anyone read them.
"I was not that good of a writer at that age and even though a poem does not serve any purpose if it is not read, I knew I would get better. I just did not want to let anyone read it until I got really good! Everyone has to find happiness within themselves in life. There's no such thing as someone making you happy. Writing poetry was one way I found my happiness as a child. But I never took it seriously."
But it was taken seriously later in life, after being published in several anthologies of poetry. Gypsy at some point crossed over into story book writing. But he incorporates epic poetry into the novel, poetry which helps tell the story! In fact it was a poem that gave him the idea to write the story...THE CANYON'S SHADOW. That book was the manifestation of finding his voice as a story teller. He wrote the poem first and it became the seed, from which the story grew.
